GE GCST11N1WBB Countertop Microwave with 1.1 Cu. Ft. Capacity, 950 Cooking Watts and Two-Step Child Lock (Black)

This microwave is 950 watts and will heat a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup of water to boiling in about 4.5 minutes. It heats frozen items or reheats leftovers in the time one would expect. It is 1.1 cubic feet, which is more than big enough to accommodate a full size dinner plate or a 4 quart casserole. The touchpad controls are easy to understand and use. My only complaint is that the push button to open the microwave door requires pressing it hard to open. One must hold the microwave with the other hand while pressing the button to push hard enough to open the door. This is only a minor annoyance and the microwave is otherwise perfect for my needs.

Great little microwave for the price. Heats fast. Perfect size for my small kitchen without being too tiny. The only reason I'm docking it a star is that it has a weird unlock door feature that I have never encountered on a microwave before. Essentially, you have to hit the cancel button to unlock the door to open it. Not only do I constantly forget I have to do it to open the door, when I do it to check the temperature or doneness of food it of course cancels the timing of where I was on cooking. I guess this is some sort of child proof thing but totally annoying and unneccessary. Teach your kids not to touch the microwave people so the rest of us don't have to be punished!!

We were forced to choose this model because of space limitations and time constraints -- only a few models would fit on our counter; we would have preferred white, but couldn't wait for one to be ordered. The stainless steel finish shows fingerprints and always looks grubby. The controls are almost invisible, since they are gray on a black background. I prefer the way the timer function worked on my previous GE microwave -- it beeped a few times, then shut off. On this one, it continues beeping until I go and shut it off. Other wise, it works well enough to reheat food.

We've had it for a week and I am pleased. It's larger inside than our last one which I really like. It needs a back light on the numbers and features since they are very hard to see without a direct light on them. You can disable the child proof lock which I did so it does not lock "every" time I use it anymore. Press "7" (not hard) for 5 seconds or until you hear a beep. Press and release the "9" key. Then press and release the "0" key. It heats very well and has features my other microwaves did not have.

When I was shopping for a new microwave, I saw many brands BUT I went with GE because of the quality of the products they make. I have set my new microwave up and I am anxious to use it. I know it will serve me well for many years as I am the only one in my household and I don't use it every day. This microwave is a lot smaller than the one I had previously (it was 15 years old and also a GE) but I am liking the size of this one much better. It looks very nice in my kitchen.

I just got this new GE microwave oven today and I still need to complete reading the manual, but I did get it plugged in and clock set and see that it seems to be working fine. I do want to add that my previous microwave oven was a GE Spacemaker III and I bought it in 1988, if I am not mistaken. I saw the manufactured date was in 1986. It just went out last night 11-2-2024. That is why I am buying another GE microwave oven. I am confident it will last for many years.

I've been using my GE microwave for about a month. I have a small kitchen so it fits my size and capacity needs perfectly. My only concern is occasionally when I hit the start button I get error message "no food" and it won't start. I've learned over the internet to open the door and close and it resets and is fine after that. Just a little concerned about using longterm if this could become problematic. Aside from that I am pleased with this new microwave.

Our old GE microwave was more reliable than the equivalent model that we purchased in February or this year. It malfunctioned and was replaced under warranty. The replacement microwave is similar in dimensions but not the same model number, The only obvious difference is a change in the keypad layout. Otherwise it seems similar. We are cautiously optimistic, although no small appliances seem to last very long these days.
