Good machine but direction of air flow is limited.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The machine is quieter than I expected, almost like running a fan even though it's blowing cold air. The thermostat is manually controlled via a dial rather than digital, so it takes a while to figure out where to adjust it for the ideal temperature. You have some control over the air flow since you can turn the air flow controller to the right or to the left, but up and down control doesn't exist. I'm expecting to get many years of use out of it since it comes from a reputable brand name. The price was lower than the competition and the only way I could have gotten it cheaper is if I would have bought it used.

Pleasantly surprised by performance!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Mother needed a replacement window a/c unit for her guestroom. She is elderly and prefers non-digital appliances so this limited our options. We researched the products available based on BTUs, AMPs, features and product quality rating, and ultimately chose this particular LG unit as I felt the top mounted controls would be more convenient for her and her guests. After purchasing locally, it was super easy for my sister and I to install. We had it running in no time and were pleasantly surprised at the performance. The unit cools the room quickly and runs so quietly!!! Even on the high fan speed setting.

Cost effective!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve put this unit through the test this past summer. Bought unit in June for our main bedroom upstairs. We have central air but the upstairs is always a little warm. This ac unit is a true champ. Very guilt, simple to operate, and comes with everything for a clean install. We had a very hot summer in Ohio this year. I left this unit running in our bedroom 24-7 to maintain 70 degrees and no humidity from purchase till the end of August. All I had to do is clean the permanent filter once a week and I was good. Love this little unit!! Going to buy another one next year for the other room!! Thanks LG!

Frustrating. Won't cool if it's cool outside

The thermostat must blend outside air to determine whether or not to turn on the compressor. If the room is too warm, but outside is cool, the compressor won't turn on unless you crank the cooling way down. If it's warm inside and outside the system will run the compressor non-stop, eventually the room gets very very cold... but the system is oblivious and the compressor keeps running. Essentially this thing has no idea what the temperature is inside the room it's trying to cool. It's does a good job cooling, but we have to constantly spin the cooling knob to keep it working properly.

No, I do not recommend this product.

TIGHT FIT, BUT WORTH IT !

This is the first window AC I have even considered in the last 8 years because of noise and weight. I liked the features advertised too. My wife and I while installing it would say many times, TAKE IT BACK, it's too big for this -()*& window. It was a very tight fit. Once installed and put into use in the ECO mode it has been GREAT and QUIET. We are SO GLAD we got it. We used the ACE BRACE to make sure it was secure and that made the install a tiny bit more difficult, but taking it out for winter will be a snap with that. So far it has been flawless and hope it stays that way.

This Little A/C is Unbelievable!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We decided to purchase this A/C because I work from home and usually it is only me in the house for the most part of the day. We hated turning on the Central A/C to cool the entire house when I was just using my office. This little A/C cooled my office down to the point it was cold and when I forgot to turn it off, it cooled down the better part of the house! Our house is only a little over 2000 sq. ft. one floor but it made a difference to the point our electric bill was half of what it was before purchasing this A/C! We love it! Excellent Purchase!! Would absolutely recommend it!

I looked around and did some comparisons and chose the 5,000 btu LG because the price was reasonable and I hoped it would be of the same quality as other LG appliances we have. I have not been disappointed. I now have four of these units purchased over the last six years and all of them have provided reliable and constant summertime service. Though I have a few different models with different features all have been great. I highly recommend the LG 5,000 btu window air conditioner for any room in your house.

Favorite AC

This is my second LW5016. This style is my favorite as well. Overall a pretty quiet air conditioner. I really like that the air blows upwards mostly, allowing it to better circulate the air in the room, since cold air falls. It also feels better to have cold air slowly fall on you then having a gale force ice wind on you, that feels refreshing for a couple minutes then is too much. The simple controls are a plus to me, as there is much less to go wrong as well. Overall I am very happy with both my LG LW5016's and would buy another if needed!
